Auto Liability Adjuster - Non-Standard Auto Claims

Job Overview: We seek a full-time staff employee for our Non-Standard Auto Liability team. This Auto Liability Adjuster will be responsible for the resolution of personal non-standard auto claims in accordance with regulatory guidelines and company best practices.
This position reports to the Auto Adjusting Division Director.
This opportunity is not an Independent contract.
Remote/hybrid considerations will be given based on the location of the candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigating, evaluating, negotiating, disposing, and settling Auto Liability claims to determine legal liability, damages, and coverage
- Assigned claims may involve single-vehicle or multiple-vehicle losses, uninsured/underinsured PD motorist claims, and complex coverage issues requiring direct involvement in auto/property damage claim handling with minimal supervision
- Develop all potential exposures in the file and properly set expense and indemnity reserves leveraging exceptional evaluation and judgment skills
- Plan and conduct investigations (including but not limited to interviewing parties involved) to collect and evaluate documentation and secure evidence
- Protect the chain of custody, determine inspection needs, order police reports, perform scene investigation, take witness statements, review material damage photos, etc.
- Analyze coverage and determine liability, compensability, and extent of damages
- Assume responsibility for property damage claims, including attorney-represented and non-represented parties, for both first- and third-party claimants
- Demonstrates a high level of investigation, analysis, evaluation, and negotiation, including interpretation of coverages
- Evaluate policy coverage and contact insureds, claimants, attorneys, and body shops while determining and establishing reserve requirements
- Document claims management system log with results of review and intentions for handling
- Compile information for decision making with discussion of claims supervisor where appropriate
- Maintain accurate records and handle administrative responsibilities associated with processing and payment of claims
- Record and update status notes and document results of contacts per best practices
- Determine the need for cause and origin experts, accident re-constructionists, and engineers
- Understanding of the Appraisal Clause process
- Respond timely and appropriately to all settlement demands
- All other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Display a competent level of computer literacy. PC and Windows a must
- Strong technical aptitude regarding software applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite
- Minimum 5 Years Staff Auto Claims Adjusting experience, with 3 years of non-standard claims handling
- Knowledge of Auto Physical Damage claims process
- Must type 40+ words per minute
- Understanding of appraisal estimating software such as Audatex, Mitchell, and CCC
- Understanding of total loss valuation products such as Audatex, Mitchell, and CCC
- Familiar with the use and application of claims management processes and software.
